The thrilling Asia Cup Cricket 2025 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, UAE, ended in favour of the Indian cricket team, who became Asia Cup cricket trophy winners, defeating Pakistan by five wickets.

Tilak Verma, who turned the match dramatically with his striking innings, led to India's victory over the opponent team, and was regarded as ‘Man of the Match’.

This thrilling victory has marked three consecutive winning records against Pakistan, as per previous encounters in this tournament.

On winning the toss, India decided to bowl first, and the game began with Pakistan's openers, Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan. They formed a sturdy partnership of 84 runs in 9 overs, when one of them bowled later.

After that, the innings of Pakistan players faltered, followed by losing 9 wickets for 33 runs and were knocked down for 146 runs in the last over in 19.1 overs.

India had the modest target of 147 to win against the opponent team. The chase began with early stumping down of wickets, dropping to 20/3 within the fourth over.

Faheem Ashraf was the leading bowler who struck down the Indian wickets frequently.

When Shubman Gill and Tilak Verma Took Over the Charge

Following the steep fallout of wickets, Shubman Gill and Tilak Verma took charge to stabilise the innings. The partnership, unfortunately, broke with the dismissal of Gill while attempting to clear the infield. His knockout raised worries about the match's outcome.

After Gill, Sanju Samson took over and made a 57-run partnership that raised hopes for the Indians. However, after the dismissal of Sanju in the 13th over, all hopes rested on the latter batsman, who, with the partnership of Verma, performed well during the closing stages.

This terrific performance changed the course of the game when Tilak Verma's match-winning innings, unbeaten with 69 runs, resulted in India winning the Asia Cup 2025, with only two balls remaining in the last six overs. India finally defeated Pakistan by scoring 147.

Heartfelt congratulations from President Droupadi Murmu & Prime Minister Narendra Modi

India's historic win in grabbing the Asia Cup 2025, marking their ninth victory at the Asia Cup, led to a proud moment for the cricket fraternity, who congratulated the Indian team. It also made many Indian cricket fans overjoyed. This historic win is hard to forget for years.

Happy with the victory of Team India, President Droupadi Murmu expressed her heartfelt congratulations and hoped for sustained glory in the coming years. Congratulating Team India on their victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi related this to Operation Sindoor and said that the outcome turned out the same.

Refusing to take the winning trophy from Pakistan’s ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi

The India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025, where India defeated Pakistan, turned out to be a happier moment for Indians, but it did not go well with Pakistan ACC Chief and interior minister, Mohsin Naqvi. It became intolerable for him to accept this victory.

During the post-match ceremonies, he stood awkwardly on stage, while the Indian team also refused to become part of this presentation. This resulted in the trophy getting removed from the field rather than referring to it for standard celebratory handover.

In a press conference post the cricket match, Suryakumar Yadav, captain of the winning team, announced the donation of match fees to the Indian Army. The denial of the trophy to the champion team despite their hard-earned victory in the tournament seemed an awkward moment for him.

Devajit Saikia, BCCI secretary, also criticised the conduct of ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi during the prize distribution ceremony. He further made a statement about not accepting the trophy from a person who belongs to a country with whom our nation has a strained relationship.
